When I was in Japan earlier this year I came across the most wonderful concept: cafes with cats in them.
Being both a cat lover and cafe lover, this place was perfect for me!
The concept of cat cafes doesn't originate in Japan, but has become quite popular after it was first introduced in 2004.
So why don't people just get their own cat instead of hanging out in places like this? One of the reasons is that many apartments in Japan don't allow you to have pets, which means you have to satisfy your cat needs elsewhere.
Another reason is that even if a person doesn't necessary want a cat for their own,
they still find it calming to pet and play with the cats, unwinding from the busy life in a big city.

What about the cats themselves? They seem to have everything they could want in life, except maybe for a life outdoors. Food is always available to them and they have people to care for them. If they don't approve of the customers they will simply jump off to one of the many higher levels around the room, where they can get some space.

What a fun idea!
ReplyDeletebut I wonder a bit how the cats thrive with all the different people O.o
OMG! Der skulle jeg vært. Elsker jo katter, men har en superallergisk mann! Muuh. Kanskje jeg kan stikke innom når vi skal til Japan:D
